About

Opening its doors in 1948, Ridgecrest Elementary School was the first school constructed by the newly formed Shoreline School District. In 1991-92, Ridgecrest underwent an extensive remodel in which a lab and gym were constructed, several classrooms were added, and the library was expanded.

In 2008, Ridgecrest underwent further renovations, including two portables and a new gym/multipurpose room floor. Additional district money, fundraising and donations contributed to a new playground.

Ten people have been principal at Ridgecrest: Harry Grimlund (1948-1967), Stan Wiklund (1967-1972), Bob Hadeen (1972-1979), Pete Elhi (1979-1985), James Schaffner (1985-2002), Bruce Titcomb (2002-2008), Cinco Delgado. (2008-2013), Sue McPeak (2013-2018), Elizabeth Nunes (2018-2022), & our current principal Daniel Natividad.

Mission and Vision

During the over 7 decades that Ridgecrest has been open, thousands of children and hundreds of staff members have come and gone – each individual taking something with them and each leaving something behind. Ridgecrest is a welcoming and supportive community where all are empowered to think critically, show compassion, and create change.
